Welcome to the Historical Society of Perry County Pennsylvania web site.  Through this site you can explore Perry County from its Early History to today’s historical Event Calendar.  You can learn About Us, read the Newsletter and even send us an E-Mail. You can take an online tour of some of the Historical Properties, including the 14 Covered Bridges located in Perry County, and visit many old Grist Mills.  This site also contains information about the narrow gauge Railroads that once was the lifeline to the western part of the county and the ferries used to cross the Juniata and Susquehanna Rivers including the last stern wheel Ferry Boat east of the Mississippi River.

Currently an archeology project is being performed by one of the local high schools of the county.  To learn what they are “digging up” go to the Archeology section.  You can find a list of many Books that have been written about or referencing Perry County. You can also Link to other sites containing information pertaining to Perry County, Pennsylvania.

If you are in the area stop by and visit us at the Blue Ball Tavern and Museum located in Little Buffalo State Park near Newport.  We are open every Sunday afternoon from Memorial Day thru Labor Day from 1:30 to 4:00 PM and other times by appointment by calling the museum at (717) 567-9011 or the society secretary at (717) 567-3079.  Visit the museums Gift Shop in person or on-line for those unique gift ideas you will not find anywhere else.  While there pick up a membership / volunteer application and join us in the preservation of Perry County history or complete the on-line application and e-mail it to us today.  We would love to hear from you.
